Yer, I added a pop-up to the blog. It’s the same as the “Definition Of A Bum” thing in the sidebar.

Honestly, the report isn’t that spectactular. It’s kind of a “back to basics” thing with bum marketing.

I wrote it like 6 months ago when I was still a semi-noob that thought that I knew more about this stuff than I really did, however it does cover some good info that’s definitely worth a look, and it’ll probably help you reshape your definition of what a BUM marketer is, because it’s really not what most people think.

If you’ve read any of my later reports, like the “bummage” report, or its sequel the 4 Prong Affiliate Domination report (like 4 people ever saw this) … then you should know it’s not even in the same league. It’s waaay more simple in this one. Neither one of those are available to the public right now.

I basically just wanted something simple to offer new people, as well as experienced ones I guess. I’m sure you can pick up something from there.

Bum Marketing… insanely popular… yet there is one thing… a flaw in the system that pretty much makes it all worthless.

Bum Marketing – the name derives from the idea that you could take a complete bum off the streets, put him in a public library, and have him make money. Right?

Right. And therein lies the problem.

The freaking companies wouldn’t have any place to send the checks to! He’s a bum! He doesn’t have a home!!

OK, fine, it would work if he has a bank account and does the direct deposit thing, or he’s in a paypal affiliate program/network such as myHelpHub – but still.

Just thought that was kind of funny, lol sorry.

The ACTUAL flaw in standard bum marketing is that you don’t have much control.

Unless you have your landing page on your own domain you don’t have any control over it and you can’t make the layout look EXACTLY like you want it on something like blogger or squidoo.

Eventually you want to get more serious with your own domains and stuff like that anyway, so why not start immediately and make more money in the long run.

I’m pretty much leaving traditional bum marketing as it is now, and moving on to something else that is a lot more powerful and completely hands off once it’s done. It’s a niche domination type of thing…

So, what’s “Advanced” Bum Marketing?

Well, when most people think of Bum Marketing, they instantly think “Article Marketing”.

Fine, I guess you can call that Bum Marketing… but not nearly as much as it could be.

Article marketing is a part of bum marketing, and if you’re just using articles and calling yourself a Bum Marketer… well, then you’re a very primitive bum marketer and you’re probably not making as much as you could be.

When someone says Bum Marketing to me I don’t go “Ah, article marketing”
…

For me it’s more like “Ah, Articles, Squidoo, Hubpages, Blogger, Wordpress.com, LiveJournal, Social Bookmarking, YouTube, and pretty much every other place where you can post content and get backlinks, and every other video sharing site”…

See, you can generate a huge amount of backlinks to whatever keyword your targeting. This can even get you ranked for a duplicate content PLR article, as long as you have more backlinks than everybody else.

A lot of people seem really focused on what they’re doing… sure, that’s a good thing but you’re leaving money on the table.

What I’m talking about, more specifically, is methods of marketing – whatever – on the internet.

a lot of people are totally focused on… wait for it…

EzineArticles.

Seriously, it’s all so narrow minded. EzineArticles isn’t the end-all be-all solution to article and bum marketing on the internet. Read the report to find out the difference between the two… Definition of a Bum report.

Alright, I admit… the other ARTICLE DIRECTORIES aren’t perhaps that important and I don’t really use any other directory too much.

But guess what?

There’s more than article directories.

HUB SITES!!!

Yes it’s seriously worth a triple exclamation mark.

What’s a hub site?

Well, I’ll tell you a few, and we’ll see if you get it.

• Blogger
• Wordpress.com

• Tumblr
• Xanga

Yes, I know you’ve probably heard of… well at least the first four?

If not you REALLY SHOULD HAVE!

Just because some of them are blog platform doesn’t mean you have to use ‘em like that.

A single post could be enough, actually a single post is all you want in some cases.

All these places rank well in the search engines and that’s all I need to know.

Imagine a site, where you could place whatever freaking kind of content you wanted to… for free… and no pesky *coughexpertcough* reviewers… instant approval… bitchin’ high PR… sometimes a 12 hour google indexing.

Seriously, the last wordpress.com blog I set up was indexed (and brought immediate traffic) in less than 12 hours.

Sure, EzineArticles is great, I use them all the time… but DIVERSIFY!

Seriously, what would you guys do if EzineArticles were your only source of traffic, and one day they maybe got in legal trouble, or had to close down for any other reason?

It’s not too likely, but is it a completely crazy idea?

No, it really isn’t so “out-there”.

Now I don’t think that it WILL happen, but I’m not saying that it won’t.

This was pretty much the entire point of me coming online to make money, in a long term sense anyway.

To not be dependant on one source of income… to not be dependant on one source of traffic… to not be dependant on anyone else for any reason!

I really hope I got my point across in this post, so you EA fanboys can have something else to occupy your time with.

Also, I’ve heard that people said “I’ve tried using Squdioo, it didn’t work!”.

You know what?

Some of the most popular marketers on the planet use Squidoo… Squidoo was the place where Bryan McConnahea from Players With Money generated a $6000+ affiliate payday with no website, no list and no money.

And to say that Squidoo don’t work would be the craziest thing I’ve heard when it comes to bum marketing. Complete and utter bullshit.

They rank in the Big G and other search engines just as well, if not better, than EA.

“Maybe it’s not the car, maybe it’s crap behind the wheel” as we like to say here in Sweden.

The only thing that prevents Squidoo from working is yourself. Hell, they even allow affiliate links!

Actually, I’d say that Squidoo and Hubpages are better than any article directory.

And you know what?

This does not only apply to article and bum marketing. It applies to any way of marketing, whether it’s PPC, email marketing or whatever you do. Think about it…

Now I’ve been typing for way longer than I had intended to, so I’ll just end it with this next period.

Hey I just got an email from Gary Baker, as I’m on his list. The email is definitely about bum marketing, though he doesn’t mention that particular word.

So, it’s directed at newbies and it went like this:

I was like… is it really that simple?

And when I thought about it… I thought, Yes, it really could be. In fact, that would be a great way to get started. Not only will you make money, but you’ll learn how to write good articles and good copy and most importantly: how to sell.

It’s a brilliant way to get started, and this is essentially what I do, except my system is like a hundred times more complex and advanced, hehe.

And, I hang around at the DigitalPoint Forums if you didn’t know that, and there’s people there that make 5 figures every month using only free methods, meaning that it’s all profit and no expenses…

No, I’m not there yet but it’s something I’m working towards.

A while ago, a member on the DigitalPoint forums asked me for help in making money online. I PM’d him back and gave him a condensed version of a “formula” that I had been working on. It’s all free and it’s all bum marketing.

This is what I told him:

What you wanna do is to dominate the search engines for the product name.

Basically, you find your product. Not too high Gravity, and stuff like that. Just find a good product with a good sales page.

Get your hoplink.

Put up two free blogger or wordpress.com blogs (or both) and optimize one for the keyword phrase “product name + review” and the other blog for “product name + scam” to attract sceptics from the search engines.

Put up a squidoo lens and a hubpages hub on the same subjects as above. Point them to your reviews.

Make a LOT of articles and submit to EzineArticles and like, 4 other directories. Make the resource box include a link to one of the blogs.

Link the blogs to each other.

Use stumbleupon to stumble everything and Digg and Reddit and Propeller too. Then use a service like Onlywire.com to social bookmark everything.

Watch the money roll in…

Repeat. Link the old blogs to the new ones.

What’s cool is, that the more you do this, the more google juice you’ll get to your blogs, because you keep interlinking everything for every project you do. Actually, you could work on JUST the blog networking and still be fairly successful.

Anyway, now, less than a month later of me sending him that, he replied to me with this

I bought a domain similar to the publisher’s and it is redirected to their site (note: you don’t have to do this, but I guess it helps). I have 2 Blogger blogs and 3 Wordpress, a Hub and Squidoo all for nameofvenderscam or review. I am on the 1st page of Google, Yahoo and MSN. I have published 4 articles on EA, GO, Dashboard, Base and a couple of others. I got the USFree Ads account and published 3 ads so far. I’ve been busy. But the good news is I made my first sale today. It feels good to see money in my new account. I can’t wait until I can make $x,xxx’s per month. Thats my goal.

So one of the biggest problems bums face when it comes to marketing is actually one of the very first steps: how to choose a product to promote.

Honestly, the product itself doesn’t matter all that much, unless you decide to jump on something big and score sales from people searching for that particular product. I’ll show you how to get those too in a second.

What people don’t realize, is that if you have a market that’s hungry enough, you won’t need a super hot product. The product itself is a small part of the equation when it comes to marketing as an affiliate.

What you do is this: You target peoples’ needs and cravings. People search for solutions for their problems and boom, there in the #1 position are you with your article/lens/hub/blog. The title of your articles should be something that they are looking for.

Examples:

“how to cure xyz”

“heal abc”

“how to get rid of xyz”

“solutions to/for xyz”

“how to fix abc”

Other things to target are questions, because people do type that in too.

Like:

“How do you fix a  bicycle chain?”

Get it?

You just want as many articles out there targeting as many of these problem-questions as possible, then in the end you should throw in another article targeting the product name for good measure, but the actual problems are your first concern. This is more important than the product itself.

So first you identify people’s problems, then you find a product that solves their product. If your crowd is hungry enough, you hardly have to do any selling, their already sold and will practically jump on whatever you throw at them.

So stop worrying about the product, and start targeting people’s needs instead.

The only time you wanna target specific products is when something big comes along, but then you gotta be there first. If you would have been first out there with something as huge as Jeff Walker’s Product Launch Formula 2.0… Yeah. Get it?

Most of the time products won’t be THAT big, but there are still products worth promoting out there…

How do you determine what products to promote then?

This is my strategy:

As I can imagine you being signed up to a buttload of internet marketer’s newsletter, and you should be, I bet you’re getting promotions of new products all the time.

So this is what you do: Watch carefully the trends of what these marketers are promoting to you…

As soon as you see that two marketers are pushing the same product, jump on it. Sure, you could choose to promote everything that other’s are pushing, but you won’t hit a “home run” as often and you’ll be fumbling in the dark just trying to score a sale.

So target wisely, and I’ll see ya tomorrow.

Right now the “big thing” seems to be Joel Comm’s and Eric Holmlund’s Instant Resale Templates, I’m sure you’ve gotten promos about that by now.

2009 update… the dude isn’t really that awesome. Last time I checked he was an idiot. Blocked me on msn because of my age, real mature right? He’s just a bodybuilder dude who thinks he’s better than everyone else :)

A guy over at the Digital Point Forums, namely “Supper” is now my friggen role model, or something. I hope that makes you happy Supper, as you’re probably reading this.

The dude has been pumping out like 30 articles a day for months now, which is just insane… but profitable. He’s got $500- something in his clickbank account right now. He made me realize something, which sure, I knew this, but I hadn’t really internalised it… The more work you do, the more you get as a result… If you don’t take ACTION, you will get no results, or no money in our industry.

While I have tried to educate myself and have been trying to know as much as possible, I’ve kind of gotten caught up in that and I haven’t taken a whole lot of action. Sure, I get a sale here and there, but almost entirely from my other blog, Lemonarian Life.

Sure, I now know a whole lot more than the average individual about making money online, but that will make me no money.

So anyone who’s reading this, I hope this has motivated you to start taking more action, whatever you do.
