If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or check out my infamous Google-crushing LinkWheel report. Thanks for visiting!
Okay, so a lot of you guys are struggling with driving free traffic to your websites, squeeze pages and affiliate landing pages and what have you. I’ve been recommending this particular way to drive traffic to a lot of people lately, first because it’s very very simple, second because it WORKS like gangbusters.
Okay so here’s what you do.
- Find some good keywords to target. Preferrably less than 10k competing pages, and decent search volume (you decide what ‘decent’ is – how much traffic do you want?)
- Write a short article on each keyword. Include it in the title and sprinkled throughout the body. Members of NicheChoppers have access to my ‘Article Marketing Awesomeness’ report where I go over how I get up to 50% CTR on my articles, but if you know just some basic article marketing stuff it will suffice.
- Submit the article to EzineArticles and possibly a few other article directories. If you are at all familiar with Article Marketing you should be used to this… if you aren’t, well read up on the subject.
- Build one LinkWheel with each article. While you’re waiting for the articles to get approved, build one LinkWheel with each article. So for example if you’ve written/outsourced and submitted 5 articles, you would build a linkwheel with each article (duplicate content is fine) so you’d end up with 5 “wheels”.
- REPEAT!
That’s the basic strategy. Very simple, expand as much as you wish. Try using press releases and things like that, they will really add another dimension to the whole formula.
These 5 steps to traffic generation will coincidentally add 5 new traffic sources to your website.
#1 Direct article traffic. People browsing EZA. This alone could bring you hundreds of visitors.
#2 Web 2.0 properties ranking in the search engines, and in turn referring people to your website from them.
#3 Loads of inbound links to your website (with good anchor text if you’re smart) both from web 2.0 and article directories – which helps you rank in the search engines on your own.
#4 Articles ranking in the search engines. EZA ranks well, we all know that.
#5 Direct web 2.0 traffic. People browsing the web 2.0 sites…. not so much, if any traffic from here though :P
This is really as simple as it gets, and if you can’t squeeze a few visitors and sales out of this… maybe this isn’t the right business for you?
Enjoy, take action and have fun :)

And oh… if you want more awesome stuff like this from me, I release a lot of this stuff to the guys at NC where I’m a mod… So come hang out with me there!

Cheers Lemorian – what’s your real name!
Anyway – these are good tips – Keyword research is crucial.
I started out in March last year and you helped me a fair bit at DP so all appreciated –
Don’t forget Youtube and Free Traffic System!
All good.
Cheers.
There is an about me page you know, or well it’s called “lemonarian what?”
Cheers, we started out around the same time then :)
Linus
So you have the web 2.0 properties all pointing to the articles and the articles pointing to your money site correct?
Oh, well no. The web 2.0 properties point to your money site as well, that’s where we want to focus our link juice. The articles rank fine on their own.
Linus
Once we have have our linkwheel set up…could we use for example Blogger and use the blogspot redirect you taught us to point directly to an affiliate product? Or is it best to set up a landing page/focus hub that will “presale” the product.
Hmm, very interesting idea Michael!
I haven’t tried it, but I suppose it could work.
Not sure if your ‘money page’ (which in this case would be a redirect) would rank though, but the LW properties you put up certainly would…
Another problem would be that sooner or later Google would probably find out and delete the blog. Or well, not necessarily, but I don’t want to take any chances here.
I almost always presell on a landing page, if it’s just something quick which I’m too lazy for a domain on, then I just make it on a free blogger blog.
Good comment though man, interesting question!
Linus
So you want your presales page to rank for the targeted keyword, right? Do you need to make a new presales page for each keyword you want to target and therefore create a new linkwheel for each presales page?
Nah that would be too much trouble.
One pre-sell per product would be enough. But by spreading out your LWs far and wide you enable yourself to rank for many different keywords – and then when people find those properties you’re telling them to visit your pre-sell page ;)
Linus
Hey man nice report. Link wheel was pretty badass. Concise, informative and it made a point. What’s best is that you kind of expanded on the ole “3 one way link srategy.” Really, I think sources is too many and go with 4 or 5 at most, but it definitely works, and it also presells your traffic better, so that by the time they hit your presell or money page, they’re ready to buy.
Kudos.

Guru Crusher’s last blog post..MemberShip Dominators Review – (sold out)
Hi Linus,
I recently submitted an Article to EzineArticles with a faily low-comp keyword. It ranked 10 in Google.
Last night I built a link-wheel around it, using Blogger, Quizilla, Weebly, GoArticles, Vox.com and a WordPress MU blog. I then pinged all the RSS feeds with Howie’s Pinger. I was hoping this might get it even closer to the top – most top-ranking EZ articles have plenty of backlinks.
Today, the article has disappeared completely from Google, even if I search for the title with site:ezinearticles.com
Any idea what might have happened? I can PM you the details if you’re interested. I might have done something wrong that’s back-fired, but I don’t think so. Makes me think I might have been penalised somehow? Dunno!
Cheers
Zander
Hmm… interesting.
You wouldn’t have gotten penalized for that though.
My guess? You’ll probably get back again, maybe in a few days or next week or something. Similar things have happened to me before and I almost always bounce back, and when I do I’m even stronger than before.
Anyway, it might been because you were linking to the same content twice, if that makes sense.
Like, your entire ‘network’ of links, your focus hub and the wheel properties, all contained the exact same content… Google might have suspected something fishy going on.
I wouldn’t build a wheel around my article submissions though, I would build it around the actualy page I wanted to rank well, my money page so to speak…
Hope that helps :)
Linus
Hi,
“Anyway, it might been because you were linking to the same content twice, if that makes sense.”
That’s possible – the only place I used almost identical content was GoArticles. On the rest, I used snippets of the main article, usually reworded slightly.
I’ll see what happens. I’ll give it another try soon with totally different content, although of course I am slightly more nervous about it now.
BTW building the LinkWheel took me about 1.5 – 2 hours, but that included signing up to places like Quizilla and Vox, and working out how the heck to use Weebly! So I guess if you had your content ready you could build it in less than 30 mins.
Zander
Oh, right, WEEBLY!
It’s a total btch. I’m gonna have to update the report again ._.
Anyway, you wanna go into ‘pages’ and then ‘new blog’ (and delete the old home page) and post your content to a blog. This way you get an RSS feed to ping.
As for time, I have the content ready in UAW and just copy and paste from there… so actually those 30 minutes actually include making accounts at the different sites like Blogsome, Livejournal and all the places you HAVE to make a new acc.

Linus
Hi,
Just to let you know, my EZA article has re-appeared, and has moved up a few places in the SERPS…
So whatever the problem was, it’s fixed itself.

Twilight…err [G**gle] zone!
Good, condensed list for traffic generation. I’m getting back into article marketing, now I see the value in it.
Thanks for the awesome tut lemonarian…but I have a question.
So if we are going for lets say a review keyword then I’m guessing we would have a review setup for each of the linkwheels. If that is the case then what would are focus hub contain? To me it would seem kind of odd to have the customer go from one review to your focus hub that has the same review…
What do you recommend?
Aaron’s last blog post..Maverick Money Makers User Reviews
No no not at all. One review page is enough, then you can build multiple linkwheels around that. As for content on the properties you can just use short articles about the product and then say something like “to read my complete review of Product name XYZ just click here: LINK” or something.
You want to funnel your link juice into that page you want to rank so one ‘main’ review page is enough and then you can build multiple LinkWheels and subwheels around it etc.
Linus
I wouldn’t worry too much about G’s dance with your content if you do everything all right. They do this all the time. Eventually your content/property/article will come back up again, most of the time on even a better position.
Just give it a time…
and in the meantime work on more articles ;-)
Tell me Linus,
Now when I settle down for some serious keyword research, like an acai berry search term – i generally focus on inanchor:”keyword” to assess comp..
But..
How do you go about searching the top websites ranking for this search term in terms of assessing how many backlinks they have for this specific search term in their anchor text..
And I don’t mean using yahoo.. link:www.blablabla.com or backlinkwatch,
This is a tightly known strategy – do you know?
Ta…rob.
Hi Linus,
Nice post, I have a question about the linkwheel I don’t quite get. Should the same keyword be used in the title, body and anchor text of outbound links from each web 2.0, and should this be the same keyword you are trying to rank your money site for?
Hope that makes sense!
You’re thinking too much.
Yes you should always use your keywords. Obviously.
Did everyone miss the part where I said that there’s no right or wrong way to do this?
Hey, Linus…
I just want to say thanks for the link wheel report and ask you a couple of questions about using this with the Google Sniper Method, if that’s ok.
As I’ve never used web 2.0 to rank in google before I was wondering how a squidoo lens would rank compared to a sniper site, obviously using the same sniper tactics on squidoo.
I was also thinking about applying this link wheel method of yours to my sniper sites, now as there all WordPress sites and each post has its own page, I was wondering if building a link wheel around each page of my sites would be an overkill or not?
Thanks,
Jay.
Nothing like good solid simple information. Thank you for sharing. This is a nice plan
Doug
So the keywords that we used in our articles should be the same keywords in our post to our web 2.0 sites then we link to our money page? (right…)
The articles purposes is the keywords used….then we build our linkwheel.
I am just making sure that I understand this process, I do have SEnuke and I love it and I have seen some results in traffic but no money yet. I am trying to focus on making money my funds is about to run out.
I will try this process and post back to give you my results.
Thanks and let me know if I understand this correctly I will be writing 5 aricles I will check back here before I start my link wheels.
God Bless!
Doesn’t matter if you understood it correctly because there’s no wrong way to do it.
Good luck :)
Linus
Hi,
Gotta say that I am quite new to this and dont understand half of it but I am trying to understand one thing – does this risk getting a site banned and are the effects long-term at all?
Is it worthwhile doing this on a larger scale for more competitive keywords? I work in a very very competitive industry…
Thanks for your consideration =)
Linus, appreciate all the advice. Especially helpful to us newbie marketers who have yet to make a dime with IM.
Dear linus:
I’m a newbie of make money online. Having made great effort and spent some money,I till get nothing. I’m a Chinese. You know,China is a developing country and my salary is low. if I can get $1000/m,I can live fairly well. I don’t want to work for bosses any longer. I really appreciate if you can help me. Sorry to bother you.
I have incorporated your link wheel report into my “gift”… hope that’s cool!

hey linus,
i am a newbie of internet marketer, i am interesting with your “link wheel” system. just to make sure of the understanding of the whole process of your incredible system. So may u give one samples of your one review page(focus hub) with one link wheel around that page(focus hub) and also the address(url) of the page and also the link wheel adress ….if u don’t mind…so i can actually understand …how the process and how the keywords use between the page(focus hub) and the link wheel as well.
thank you so much linus
regards
huasin
Good simple plan and advice. People try to over complicate things sometimes. I like your style Linus.
Hey linus,
Thanks for your report I’m definitely going to use it.
Someone else asked this question but I didn’t see the answer. If I had let’s say a 25 page site do you do the link wheel for every page of my site, because I would like every page to get ranked?
Do the backlinks of the articles in Squidoo connects to your site and to the next Web 2.0 site? For example, the first backlink of Squidoo goes to the page of your site and the second link goes to the URL of the next web 2.0 site article. Or do you have both links in the article of each web 2.0 site go to your site and just use the RSS feed to point to the next 2.0 site?
I thought I read your report carefully, but if I missed where you explained that already I’m sorry.
I tried to post this comment before but it didn’t go through I hope it doesn’t end up posting over and over.
Thanks,
Mitch
is this strategy outdated? can we still use the duplicate content with each property?
Thanks
You’re probably going to have to mix it up a wee bit more. This worked like gangbusters back like… a year ago.
Concept is still valid, you just have to be careful.
Hi Linus, thanks for enlightening my limited knowledge about this topic. You made it simple by giving numbered instructions. My friends will also enjoy this. I’ll be sending this page them, now.
Really interesting article.I think it help me to get huge traffic for my social bookmarking website.I personally think link wheel it very useful for search engine and social media for traffic.
Thanks mate.
