Hey guys, Linus here…
A while back I got one of the EzineArticles.com newsletters, maybe you remember it, where it said that the average ClickThrough rate (CTR) on resource boxes within the site is around 12%.
Yes, 12%.
That’s just… pathetic, I thought. And I considered posting this here then but I was busy and thought that I would do it later.
Unfortunately it’s where most people are at. If you’re unclear on what this means, that’s basically the percentage of people who view an article who then clicks through to the author’s website.
So anyway, today I got another email, from the ‘head Bum’ – inventor of the Bum Marketing Method who basically started this article marketing craze in the first place.
He said that he had this awesome trick he just found out that boosted one of his articles up to a whopping 34%!!!
…meh.
Really, Travis? 34%?
———————————————————–
And it was a trick I’ve known for ages and it’s basically is: keep your article short, as close to 250 words as possible (the minimum word count) and then really sell the click in the resource box.
You want the link to hit them as SOON as possible. If you must go on for 300+ words, at least keep the link ABOVE THE FOLD.
That’s about it, except I explained it better, lol.
———————————————————–
I have tons more of these tricks. In fact I AVERAGE 30% -55% CTR on all my article submissions to EzineArticles. I’ve gotten over 60% at times.
If you include the dozens of submissions I did as a complete noob, my average CTR for all my articles combined is actually just around 30%.
Want proof?

Yep, do the math.
———————————————————–
So here’s the deal.
I have a little report I wrote a while back called ‘Article Marketing Awesomeness’ and it pretty much reveals all of my cutting-edge tactics for generating CTRs of over 50%+ and a whole bunch ofstuff on how to maximize your article marketing efforts.
That’s about it, I think it sounds pretty good actually.
If you follow what’s inside it, I’ll teach you exactly how to structure your article and how to write your articles and resource boxes for maximum results.
First of all, yes, of course I’m selling something here, that’s kind of like my job… BUT I think it will be a very VERY good deal for you.
Okay, so as you may know Howie Schwartz latest craziness is called his ‘Bathroom Bonanza’ and it’s his latest firesale.
http://lemonarian.com/likes/bathroombonanza/
I actually just checked it out myself and well, to be fair it’s nothing short of awesome-tastic.
Really.
Remember the LinkWheel? My little creation is spreading around like wildfire and I get success stories almost every day from people using it successfully. It’s almost like a standard term in Internet Marketing now, I’ve actually seen professional SEOs use it as part of their services. Really.
I have a little confession to make though.
The majority of what I know about Web 2.0 and using it to get crazy rankings in Google – I have learnt from Howie Schwartz.
In fact, the LinkWheel itself was inspired directly by the teachings of Howie.
So I admit it, when it comes to web 2.0 – he is the MASTER. When Howie talks about traffic… you BETTER listen.
———————————————————–
So how’s this:
You check out Howie’s latest firesale -it’s delivers like CRAZY and if you can’t make your (tiny) investment back at least 10x by using his methods I’d be surprised.
If you order through my link I will GIVE you my exclusive “Article Marketing Awesomeness” report free of charge as a bonus.
So how about getting some CRAZY rankings with all these different Web 2.0 sites, all the while combining it with article marketing to drive thousands of visitors to your websites?
You can even use my article marketing tactics ON your web 2.0 properties. So for example… how would you like everyone that visits one of your squidoo lenses to click over to YOUR site where YOU make the money?
Well… sounds like a good deal to me at least.
So here’s what I want you to do next:
1. Go to Howie’s Bathroom Bonanza and order through THIS LINK:
==> http://lemonarian.com/likes/bathroombonanza/
(if you don’t order at least get the freebies!)
2. Forward your purchase receipt from Howie to me at
contact@lemonarian.com
3. Wait for the delivery of your bonus. Keep in mind that I’ll reply back with it from the same email it was sent from… if you want me to send it somewhere else, please specify that in the email. Shouldn’t take more than 24 hours.
That’s it for now, ENJOY THIS ONE!!

Wouldn’t it be rather difficult to get the articles approved if you limit the length to 250 characters? I see nearly 50% CTR in your articles, that’s the best I have ever heard of.
250 Characters would be hard, I think you meant 250 words :)
And no, not really. As long as you’re following the editor guidelines you should be fine.
And yes, on the top article there it’s sitting at around 51% CTR.
And the tip in here is just a PART of the whole equation, it’s somewhat of a science… all of my little tricks are in the report really, which is available as a bonus to Howie’s Bathroom Bonanza as you can see above…
Linus
60% is amazing. I need all the help I can get. My ezine marketing is only good for links at this point because my ctr is in the low single digits. I will be reading a lot of your stuff to get that number up.

Thank you lemonarian for this article, you’re really good, this is a hard to touch CTR. I also have few articles in EzineArticle, but my higher CTR is near 20%. I will apply your tips and hope my CTR will increase:)
That’s a seriously excellent CTR — congrats. My CTR – for articles written under a pen name – was 17%. I definitely want to improve this.
I just signed up for Howie’s Bathroom Bonanza & Keyword Arsenal trial offers thru your link, I guess I have to wait until I become a permanent member before I can get that EzineArticles
report.
for me, that’s a That’s a seriously excellent CTR, congratulations buddy :)
Sensational CTR’s, thanks for the tips. Oh and Travis is awesome, learned a lot from him back in the day :)
Hmmm.. I’ve tried article submission to boost my site’s ranking and I’ve been told that the articles should have at least 500 words. Now I know better. Gotta pass this tidbit along to my writers. Hehe
this info is so cool.. I’m always a good follower when it comes to Howie’s teachings.. I also use the linkwheel that you have given and this is the most awesome thing that I have learned for link building and building a niche site. This article is awesome especially for the article marketing for when I use a tool to create unique articles and CTR’s are really important.
Stay cool!

Wow. I’ve never really been a big user of article writing but it works. But this is one of the best article writing posts I’ve seen yet (paid OR free). And I agree with your opinion of Howie. He is the master of Google marketing and owning multiple spots in the rankings.
Yes Travis was talking crock!
I used to do this partly because it made your link appear halfway through the article plus you could copy and paste duplicate content into the resource box over and over again minimising your work load without any red flags showing – but then ezine came up with the 30% rule – whereby the sell in the resource must be no more than 30% of the article body.
I think the gist of getting a decent ctr is to keep your article short – 250 to 350 as you say – less chance of them clicking an adsense link and more chance of seeing your website link. In the resource box – drop the ego as they say. Don’t talk about yourself, talk about what interests your reader. If you can give something away then mention it and say it is free. Make the end of the article and the start of the resource flow and be linked by some kind of conjunction.

That’s an impressive CTR you have there for your ezinearticles. Mine are no where near. It looks like I’ll have to take a few of your tips on board. It all seem so simple when you know how!

I never thought of keeping the resource box ‘above the fold’. Nice!
I received an email from EZA yesterday ‘suggesting’ we limit resource box content to 15% of the total word count.
Plus, EZA seems to be on the warpath for ‘short’ articles. Those guys tee me off sometimes.
there are lots of interesting stuffs in this article, I might try to experiment on your tips and see if it works on me.
wow…
i haven`t seen that such of high CTR as yours before…
