An Important Announcement from Linus…

LinkWheel: Dead Or Alive?

… and the ultimate Google ranking strategy revealed…

Hi, Linus here… it was me who published the original LinkWheel report, all the way back in february of 2009.

The report that started this whole wild craze. It quickly went viral and far beyond my control.

If you’re reading this… then it most likely means you’ve heard of this thing called a “linkwheel” and you came to find out what it’s all about.

Basically, it was a way to interlink web 2.0 properties which boosted their power and got sites indexed and ranked extremely quickly.

They still work today… but not as effectively, and only as a part of a bigger and thorough link strategy.

Most people read the report and expect a magic bullet. Then they do it… 5 million times and spam the search engines, and then send me hate mail because they deindexed their sites. All I can do is laugh, and sigh.

The LinkWheel worked splendidly back in feb. 2009… it was a little shortcut. And a short term strategy, even back then.

So if you came here looking for a magic bullet… you can leave now. Please.

If you’re still interested in what I have to say… I’ll let you in on

“The Ultimate Google Ranking Strategy”

The following contains a strategy… or a mindset to keep… which will allow you to always dominate Google… now and forever into the future.

It’s not a tactic that will be here today and be gone tomorrow… it’s evergreen, and you’ll see why below:

(this is an excerpt from a post I made on a forum, in response to a discussion on Google and SEO)

The purpose of Google is essentially to organize the internet’s contents into an as useful and relevant way as possible. No secret there… however, Google can not manually review each website and confirm the value or lack thereof, it brings to the internet.

Therefore, it uses robots and algorithms to determine the usefulness and relevancy of webpages…

Right now, one of the ways they measure this, is by seeing how many links they have, how frequently they get them, what anchor text is used, and where they come from… and so on.

Recently they have also started counting in a site’s activity… for example how many comments a blog post gets. If it gets a lot of them – that is an indication that the content is popular and valuable…

Then they constantly update and improve these algorithms.

The ultimate thing for Google would be a formula… that was impossible to cheat.

You can fake activity and you can fake your link popularity…

which is WHY they need to come out with new algorithm updates.

Conclusion: if you do blackhat stuff to rank your crappy websites, you will always be fighting to stay one step ahead of the latest google algorithm

On the other hand, if you put in some effort… and make something that legitimately contributes to the internet… well I think you can figure it out for yourself.

That being said… building lots of links is what works now, and obviously that’s what you should do then. But I’m not sure for how long… I think Google will be moving back towards actual website content much more in the coming year.

It might be useful to consider WHY Google’s algorithm is based on backlinks in the first place… and why it might not always be that way.

So there you have it.

It’s not sexy. It’s not cool… because it forces you to THINK for yourself.

I hope that provided some insight for you… into how you can rank and dominate in Google.

Now, I’m NOT a SEO guy. Since publishing the report, I’ve kind of become known as an SEO guy.

I’m not… I’m a marketer.

That means I get the money, and use whatever resources I got to get it. If that means ranking in Google, that’s what I do. Or PPC or social media or whatever else.

All these things are just tactics.

What I’m into… are the principles that make the tactics work.

With that said – if that sounds cool to you… I would like to invite you into my little world.

I publish an almost-daily newsletter called The Unstupid Marketing Daily.

It’s free.

Yes, I do sell things through it.

I also provide real insight into what it’s like to really sell stuff.

So basically: Real marketing advice from someone who’s there, in the trenches, on the hustle… every single day.
