“Monopolies Are Impossible”

by Linus Rylander

20 years ago, Paul Pilzer said monopolies are impossible because markets have no corners. It’s true. No matter what your competition is, there is always a way over, under, around, behind.

Whatever you face, a solution exists.

This is one of the best blog posts I’ve read in a while, and it’s from good ole marketing ninja Perry Marshall. Makes you think. Which, in my opinion, should be the point of these things.

And on par with my recent, and somewhat controversial post (The Top 3 Most Important Skills For Entrepreneurs), Perry ends with:

  • Are you asking yourself the right questions?
  • Are you surrounding yourself with people who ask you great questions?
  • Do they challenge you to the depths of your soul to be the very best you can be?

Great stuff. Now go sell something.

    Hey Lynus,
I’ve been reading your blog for quite a while. Time to leave a comment ;)

Asking yourself the right questions can be incredibly effective in solving problems or taking my life to the next level.
Some questions I ask myself regularly:
How can I make this work ? How can I take my life to the next level  ?
    How can I get a 60% open rate for my e-mails ?

IF IT WERE POSSIBLE HOW WOULD IT LOOK LIKE ?
The enlightening answers I get seize to surprise me.

    that’s all

    Keep it coming.

Sorry you don’t like it bud.

I found something I thought was really cool, and decided to share it. That’s about it. You don’t have to like it.

    That’s what I’m talking about!

Yep, you got it. That’s why I say that Self-Inquiry is the most useful tool in your toolbox.

Also about 100x as powerful as “affirmations” or that kind of thing. It circumvents the inner gremlin that tells you everything is impossible.

You: “I have a beautiful beachfront home where I live with my family… ”
Inner gremlin: “Yeah, right! Keep dreaming, sucker.”

On the other hand if you ask a question:

You: “What specific steps do I need to take in order to move into a new home by the end of next year?”
or “What would life be like if I were living in a 5000 sq foot beachfront home right now?”
or “What kind of person do I need to become to move into a new house by the end of the year?”

Inner Gremlin: “Hmm, let me think about that”

    Thanks for your comment NIS.
