Sociopath Serial Killer Marketing Tactics

I go NUTS for TV shows.

Not films, not as much (though I love those as well) – TV shows are da’ bomb.

I don’t even watch them at proper run times, on TV. I download them…
Not episodes either… I won’t watch a show if I don’t commit to it fully.

Last year I started watching “House” for the first time… it was already in season 6 I think.

So I went and downloaded every episode, from the pilot episode of season one.

Why do I do this?

First… entertainment, of course. These shows are brilliant. The good ones anyway. (I like to download the first few episodes of a show and see how good it is… if I like it I’ll download the rest of the season)

Second – marketing intel.

Man! The amount you can learn about storytelling and cliffhangers and HUMANITY is simply staggering.

The writers of the shows, the really good ones… are MASTERS of this stuff. They know people’s hot buttons. They know what get our juices flowing…

Study it. Watch and learn.

I know some of you old timers will disagree… but I think “Dexter” might just be the best TV show ever.

I’ve never had another show on the edge of my seat to the same degree as Dexter.

The storytelling is truly masterful.

The thing about shows as opposed to movies is that they’re telling stories over a period of time… across multiple episodes. They have to tell their stories in such a way… that will force you to come back and watch them again, next week.

Dexter does this in an unbelievable way.

Another interesting thing about Dexter is that he’s a sociopath. He doesn’t possess human emotion in the same way as everyone else…

So all throughout his life he’s been forced to PRETEND to be like everyone else so he can fit in. And he tells you about the things he’s done and doing in order to appear to be just like everyone else.

Incredibly powerful insights into human behavior.

I highly recommend you pick up the box of Season 1 of Dexter.

Talk soon,
Linus
