Yes! Make a blog. Not as much for the rankings (great rankings will simply be a side effect) but for the INTERACTION with your customers. That's HUGE.

Hey Linus,

nice article, very clear. Do you think interlinking still works nowadays? I'm using blog linkbuilding and highly semantic HTML to get pretty high SEO results. I haven't considered using other owned sites, like a corporate blog or something, to gather even more links. You think it's advisable to start up a company blog and promote that as well online?

@Fred My best tip to you is... don't worry so much about it.

First of all if you're building links it's all about congruency in all cases... so if you want to rank in danish, you would probably be best off having it all in danish. So perhaps see if there are any danish blog hosts or something, I'm sure there are several.

Write your articles in danish. I've seen content in foreign languages being put up on sites like squidoo too etc... personally I probably wouldn't do that, but try to keep it danish as much as you can.

Second... link building for sites in languages other than english is FAR less important. My father has blog in swedish that makes almost $2k a month - and he just makes a post or two to it every day.

He has done zero linkbuilding. None whatsoever.

Content is more important than links. Relevant content on a frequently updated site is gold.

Also, 99% of swedish, and probably danish webmasters too, are complete noobs when it comes to SEO. I can beat the big companies here, no problem.

Hope that helps,
Linus

Link wheels are not dead. You do have to be careful how you build them to make them look more natural though. I have been working on my link wheel for a couple of weeks and can already see the increase in rank.

I had a question about the language of keywords that can be used. All my websites are in Danish. I want to build a link wheel for a keyword that I want to dominate on Google.dk. I have written 5 original articles for posting on web 2.0 sites. Articles are written in English. What I am doing to link to my website and the next spoke on the wheel is that I am using my Danish keyword in brackets next to the English keyword and hyperlinking the Danish keyword. I wanted to know if this was fine with Google or would it attract a penalty or punishment.

English keyword ( Danish Keyword )

Thanks in advance!

link wheel is dead dude...now there is no catch...any thing interlinked is harfull for rankings these days...so either delete this page or write in P.S section that it doesn't work any more, that will surely help people who are falling victims to scams by few linkwheel developing sites for huge bucks.

I sincerely thank your for the concise report, explanation and the follow-ups you are doing to clear up this concept.

I could tell from what I first heard of it, it was a powerful concept. But, kind of like TNT, if used improperly, it could blow up in your face.

Kudos to you! In my eyes you are an official IM GURU - a for real one!
